Ribera del Duero VT: Revisited

GDP and Roger Kugler of Ribera del Duero discuss all that this magnificent region has to offer



In a place as rugged as the Ribera del Duero, vintage character is difficult to conceal. Roger gives us an idea of the character of recent vintages as we start tasting the Matarromera Crianza. Matarromera is celebrating their 25th anniversary, a young winery but one of the older entities in the region and as a pioneer they continue to lead today by building a solar powered winery with a tiny carbon footprint.

Food and the Cellar

We take questions that are specifically based on the Matarromera Crianza, but Roger gives detailed answers to food pairings and cellaring questions that are applicable across the wines of the region.

West Side

The topography in Ribera del Duero changes as one moves from East to West, with the slopes increasing in steepness, and vineyards moving towards the lower flats. Roger gives us some tips regarding the locations of some of the top wineries as we start tasting Emilio Moro Malleolus.
