Turn the Towns Teal With Trapiche Wines

Throughout the month of September, Trapiche will be embarking on a national campaign supporting the efforts of the organization, Turn the Towns Teal®, A Campaign to Raise Awareness for Ovarian Cancer. With every bottle of Trapiche purchased during the month, 50 cents will be donated to Turn the Towns Teal®, up to $10,000. Additionally for every new fan at Frederick Wildman's Facebook page, we will donate $1.

Volunteers will be tealing their towns with ribbons and information cards, as will wine shops and supermarkets across the country. Neckers featuring the symptoms of ovarian cancer will be placed on bottles of Trapiche; the outer shipping cartons will have teal ribbons and posters with symptom information will decorate stores. Ovarian cancer is often referred to as the silent disease so it’s more important than ever to inform as many women as possible about its deadly symptoms.

With more than 125 years of wine making experience, Trapiche is located at the foothills of the Andes Mountains in Mendoza, Argentina. Mendoza is the home to Argentina’s wine industry and Trapiche, owner of over 1000 hectares of vineyards, is located in the prime growing areas including in the highly sought after location of Tupungato in the Uco Valley. The combination of hot days coupled with cool nights and high altitude create the perfect conditions for growing the region’s flagship varietal Malbec. Irrigation is a must as the area is basically a desert and gets scant rainfall in a year. Irrigation canals, some created centuries ago by the Indians, bring water down to the city and province. Originally from France, and brought to Argentina by the immigrants, Malbec has certainly found its home in Mendoza.

Trapiche’s philosophy is to embrace Argentina’s rich diversity in terroir and varietals. Considered to be the world’s leading producer of Malbec, the winery specializes in not only Malbec but other varietals as well including Cabernet Sauvingon, Torrontes, Sauvignon Blanc, Bonarda, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Trapiche has a full range of wines from the entry level Varietal Range to the Premium Oak Cask Range, the Super Premium Broquel line and the Icon Single Vineyard Malbec collection. All wines are hand-picked and hand sorted to ensure the highest level of quality.
