Thirst for Rioja

I have sweet memories of the European Wine Bloggers Conference, which was held this October in Brescia, Italy, and I don't think I've given due credit to the phenomenal job done by the organizers of this annual event. Robert McIntosh and Ryan and Gabriella Opaz did a killer job in both bringing together a group of rowdy wine writers with short attention spans and in keeping us all engaged and involved for a brilliant weekend.

One of the big takeaways for me from the EWBC '11 was that I should be paying more attention to my fellow writers, and getting to know each of them better. One of the best ways to at least get a start down that road is to begin reading their blogs. Duh!

As it so happens, Robert's blog, Thirst for Rioja, is all about Rioja wines. With all the Tempranillo I've been tasting this week, and with most of that coming from Rioja, I couldn't think of a better time to start getting to know Robert through his work.
Robert's personality is best captured in his post "Impressions of a First Time Visitor to Rioja - a Guest Post." From this entry you can easily get a clear idea of just where Robert is coming from, and of what he wants to share with the world.

Thirst for Rioja may not be the most detailed Rioja wine blog in the blogosphere, but it is the work of one of the great forces behind the gradual yet unstoppable maturation of the wine blogging movement.

And in case you are wondering, after much searching, I've yet to find the great, complete Rioja wine blog. Must be that Spanish lifestyle!
