Fried apple & whites

Posted by ApelsecS, Aug 17, 2019.

Hi folks!

You probably remember me as a guy with fancy pairing choices, so here we go - a Fries Apple with White wine!

A background - well, I was lazy to cook something and had a bottle of California Pinot Gris... and at some point I felt like crispy red sweet apple would be best for pairing when it's a bit fried...

It's very easy to make - just drop an apple of your choice wrapped in a foil into oven at 500F for... a while... just don't fry it too deep, 25% of depth would be perfect.

Fried apple has excellent sweetness at high tones that compensate bitterness of Pinot Gris.

I think chenin blanc, cabernet blanc and maybe crispy german riesling should be good as well...

Give it a try with different kinds and let us know what you think!

Don’t forget the cinnamon!

There is LIFE!

Thanks for dropping by Apelsecs.  Good to see you too Randy!

I'm sure there'll be flurries of news coming once summer activity slows down.  I know of some, but will let the main characters tell their respective stories.

I lost my miniature Schanauzer (she was 15) in June and left my boss of 11 years to work for a guy ten years younger than myself, but his guys and I all get along well and he pays me 20% more!  The weather in Victoria has been fabulous and I've been enjoying some good wine and watching Terri manicure the backyard.  Had a couple of nice dinners with Zufrieden and his wife.

A new friend in my backyard!

DV, better give a shout out to southern Florida about that pesky seagull invasion!

Apelsecs, are you talking baked or fried apples? Wasn't sure from your description...

That fried apple thing sounds pretty good.

I have grilled apples as a side to pork chops, but, as Randy indicated, I go heavy with the cinnamon.

Your back yard is beautiful, Darrin.

Wow DV - lots of changes. Glad everyone is well.

And what a random pairing. I'm not actually sure I've ever had a fried apple. Right now I'm collecting passion fruit every morning. Never grew any before. There's not a lot to them but they're delicious. And one or two days riper makes a huge dif.

Nice yard DV!

Thanks EM and Greg,

As Zuf can attest, it's entirely Terri's effort :)

How long do your hydrangeas last up there, DV?

Reply by dvogler, Aug 20, 2019.

Terri says she cuts the flowers off in early November and then prunes the stalks down in February.

ApelSecs, curious as to what else you put in with the apple when you wrap it in foil and toss it into the oven.

DV, agree with the others, nice yard. Is that grass real?

It is real.  My wife is pretty ocd when it comes to the lawn ;)

I know I should reply on the "something different" page, but you should try and find Kiona Lemberger.

It's about $15 and REALLY good qpr.

Is that your little Schanauzer DV?

Sorry for your loss. They're such guileless, devoted companions. Best to you old buddy.

And good luck with the new work arrangement!

Well, I've now highjacked Applesecs' post.

Greg, yes, that's India.  She was a great dog.  The new company is great.  It's nice to be working with a few guys again.  We work on some of the finest custom homes and it's nice to work at a pace of perfection rather than "get it done so I make money" pace.  Nice to see how some people get to live, although I'm not envious in the least.  I feel like I've over-achieved, except that Guado Al Taso isn't my daily drinker!

Dvogler beautiful yard and puppy. I have two yorkies have had yorkies for fourty years cook for them twice a day, not feed them cook they get brown rice, broccoli, carrots chicken breast, and some dry food that doesn’t count snacks which is apple or carrots. Loved your yard mine is about The same size mow it everyday, dogs don’t like their private parts touching the grass. I am sure as like me your dog is not spoiled but taught., at 82 after 60 years I have learned not to argue with my wife with one exception as long as I can remember who I am I will have a dog. My dogs are 13 and 7, the only more important to me is my wife and children, I will say wine takes fourth

You're a great guy!  I found my house pretty empty after my dog was gone.  My wife and I had to actually talk to each other!  Spend as much time with your dogs as possible.  I have a small yard and my wife takes care of it.  She uses a push mower on it daily!

Hey Jack, what wine have you had lately that you really enjoyed?
