If a painter stares at his blank white canvas with a thousand possibilities of expressing himself to society, winemakers do no differently with Chardonnay. This varietal holds the rare quality of having its flavors mold to the many differences in Read more »

  • Puligny-Montrachet Charles Thomas 1988

I bought this bottle of wine from the website ... has been famous for white chardonnay wines for centuries although there are a few reds. The commune of Puligny-Montrachet got appellation status for white wines only in 1939.There are 3 Grand Cru vineyards and 50 Premier Cru although my bottle is a village level wine.I started my bottle last nigh... • Some wines.A Gruner Veltliner. Not bad. It would be interesting to see more of ... ... It's a really tasty Chardonnay and I would have bought more if I had a way to bring them back. First class wine. One of many good wines from Burrowing Owl. And they don't have a tasting fee per se, they ask for a donation that's devoted to helping the burro... Read More

  • So on a whim we decided to visit British Columbia. But we flew up to ... ... tried. They make a series of Chardonnays and these were crisp, clean, lightly oaked and quite delicious. I would love to put them into a blind tasting with some Chablis. Classy wines for sure.Overall there were a lot of good wines and the prices were great when compar... Read More

  • Bedrock Wine Co. Chuy Chardonnay Moon Mountain District 2017

Very pretty deep straw color. Fairly big nose--oaky bouquet, tropical fruit aromas. Noticeable caramel is followed by tropical fruit--pineapple, kiwi--on the tongue. The "Tropical Fruit" descriptor tells you that there is plenty of acid in this one. That's probably why I like it Read More

  • Now drinking a Nielson by Byron Chardonnay (2015) and it is excellent - especially for the price - even if price is no option.  (Is it, I wonder?... maybe a philosophical discussion on the Moral Science is forthcoming at some point, but not now). Why?  It was on sale for about 18-19 dollars US which is good up here in the Great White North.  I ha... • Byron Vineyards Nielson By Byron Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay 2015

This old Santa Barbara winery produced a magnificent and delicious medium bodied Chard in 2015. The Stelvin (screwcap) closure helps preserve the freshness; the bouquet is showing development in the bottle with a hint of ginger and cinnamon on a bed of lightly cooked delicious apple. Entry is light with prudent levels of viscosity and a sprinkl... Read More

  • Villa Maria has a really unoaked Chardonnay. Has a butterscotch vanilla finish. I'd love to know if anyone has tried other Villa Maria Chardonnays. I'd hate to buy a wine that didn't meet expectations. I've done enough of that already.
