The irony here is that Syrah’s origins could give Carmen Sandiego a run for her international wallet. Syrah’s deepest rooted history lies in the Rhone region of Southwestern France, as the wines that made this varietal famous were from hermitage, located in northern Rhone. The name “Shiraz,” however, gained popularity in Australia where this dark-skinned varietal has long been heavily planted. The birthplace of Syrah is still unknown, with many legends linking together both its aliases, suggesting origins in Iran, Rhone, and Australia.

    Opaque purple color with a "rasiny" nose. A very subtle introduction of dark fruit, but what is really noticeable is acid "spritziness" around the edges of the tongue.     Opens with nice dark fruit, then, some noticeable salinity. Nice tart acid fills the mouth. Interestinly, I had he full cluster fermented version of this wine (Elevacion), yesterday.   • The USA has been starved of "REAL" Australian Shiraz, We built our name on Family wineries, Single Vineyard Estate Wines. Not these commodities. there are Great Australian wines available , just a little harder to find
