Beaulieu Vineyard Bv Tapestry 2011
Member Review by zufrieden:
The 2011 BV Tapestry is ready to roll, as model railroaders used to say. This is a lighter style wine, with a good, dark cherry robe and nose of cedar plank, cassis and a hint of vanilla. Entry is pleasant, with blackberry, vanilla and very light tannin on the palate. Very understated. Finish is medium long and European in mouthfeel. 90.

Rich red claret style nose. Fresh bread. Flavors of dark red fruit with flowers and licorice. Deep, radiant and fleshy. Good balance. Ripe and nice. 88 pts. 1/5/13
Aromas of dark cherries and Rose follow thru with good amount of ripe berry: cassis and chocolate. Balanced structure: soft tannins and good acidity. A little bit of chew in the mouth. the wine is ripe, easy to drink and a great price.
one very very nice cab. a little overpriced imo, compared to what's available out there, but a wonderful red: smooth, balanced, medium notes, dark ripe fruits. will only get better in the cellar

Graceful, with complex spice, herb, dried currant and crushed rock flavors that are well-proportioned and gaining on the finish, where the flavors weave together with subtle nuances. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Drink now through 2022. 18,000 cases made. -JL The 2009 Reserve Tapestry is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Dark red fruit, flowers, licorice are some of the notes that emerge from this sleek, beautifully balanced red. As good as this is, it doesnt have the personality of the estates Cabernets. Still, I like the deep, radiant, fleshy finish. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2017. (a blend of all five red Bordeaux varieties): Bright red-ruby. Slightly medicinal aromas of dark berries, licorice and chocolate. A supple blend with restrained sweetness, but a bit sullen today as a strong chocolatey quality currently mutes the wines fruit. Plenty of material her...

Blends ripe, fleshy plum and black cherry flavors with a subtle backbone of acidity and tannins. Slow to unfold, but does so gracefully, revealing dusty earth, cedar and black licorice in an elegant style. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2018. 18,000 cases made. -JL The 2008 Reserve Tapestry comes across as a bit leaner than the 2009. I have a preference for the 2009 here. Mint, licorice, grilled herbs and plums are some of the notes that linger on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. Weaving together five classic varietals, our 2008 Beaulieu Vineyard Reserve Tapestry begins with deep, briary blackberry and cassis character from Cabernet Sauvignon. Velvety black-cherry character comes from a generous blending of Merlot, while Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot add violet, licorice, forest loam and graphite nuances, as well as deep hues and texture. Tapestry elegantly demonstrates the art of blending vari...

The 2006 Proprietary Red Wine Tapestry Reserve (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot) is the finest example of this cuvee I have ever tasted. Flowery, licorice-infused, cassis notes intermixed with forest floor and lead pencil shavings are followed by a layered, impressively built wine with real opulence, lots of red and black fruits, low acidity, and lush tannin. It should drink well for 15+ years. Pungently earthy, rich and loamy, yet there's a mix of tight berry, sage and underbrush that gives this complexity and depth. Very tight and tannic at this stage, ending with hints of black licorice. Decant. The best of two bottles tasted. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Best from 2011 through 2016. 25,900 cases made. -JL

Tapestry Reserve was created so that Beaulieu Vineyards, with their prime Napa Estate vineyard land and experienced winemaking team, could produce a world class Cabernet-based Bordeaux blend. The 2005 Tapestry is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Grapes were hand picked at optimal maturity and crushed into stainless steel fermenting tanks. Fermentation lasted 7-10 days. The wine is aged 20 months in French, American and European oak barrels, 60% new. Robert Parker scored this latest release 93 points and said "The 2006 Proprietary Red Wine Tapestry Reserve (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot) is the finest example of this cuvee I have ever tasted. This age-old classic begins with sawdust aromas and hints of mint and green bean. Broad plum, berry and vanilla flavors spread across the wide-open palate, followed by a finish of mocha and coffee... on the sweet side, with fairly aggressive oak, yet it manages to shine and strut its stuff. Still, more definition and delicacy would elevate it further.

The 2005 Beaulieu Vineyard Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon expresses immensely concentrated layers of brambly blackberry, black cherry and dark plum character. Complex nuances of mocha and black licorice mingle with toasty vanilla oak from barrel aging. Gentle precision winemaking assures that no single character predominates in the beautifully integrated aromas and flavors. This wine's opulent flavors, structured with mouthcoating, velvety tannins, are best shown with equally rich entree's, such as filet mignon, or with an elegant cheese course. - Winemaker ** Only 1 in Stock **
