Cave des Vignerons de Buxy Montagny Premier Cru "Les Millieres" 2016

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine for £17 from the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/126250.Montagny is an appellation created in 1936 although there has been viticulture here for centuries for white wines only made of the chardonnay grape from the commune of Montagny des Buxy and three adjacent communes on the Cotes Chalonaise in southern Burgundy. There are no Grand Cru vineyards but 49 Premier Cru.My bottle comes from a large co-operative group.I started my bottle last night with my supper of quiche and salad. It is quite pale in colour and is a dry wine. There is some melon.peach and apple style fruit with a mere hint of citrus but compared to other white Burgundies this is a little bland. I thought a Premier Cru would be better but I have had more flavousome chardonnays for less money. However it went well with the quiche

Was taken in by the Premiere Cru status on the label, in truth it was very ordinary and the price should have given that away. Only a slight butteriness but largely apricot and apple, pretty standard white.
