Château Chauvin Red Bordeaux Blend St. Émilion Grand Cru 2011

Member Review by Bersteinj:

Not bad, had a bitter after taste, so far I cannot find any wines as good as getting direct from Saint-Emilion.

Vieux Château Chauvin:
It had taken four generations to craft a wine of renown and establish skills based on a meticulous approach to winemaking. It was 1891 that it all began, when Victor Ondet a prosperous dyer in the town of Libourne, invested all he had in the purchase of "Domaine de Chauvin",a small estate od 9.9 acres that produced a wine held in high esteem even that time.

This estate consistently produces attractive, seductive wines. The 2011 is appropriately soft and fleshy with lovely berry fruit intermixed with hints of earth, incense and Christmas fruitcake. Medium-bodied and pure, it should drink nicely for a dec... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2011 Chauvin 750ml

Chauvin's successful 2005 ranks alongside their 2000 and 1998. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by lovely aromas of black currants, cherries, smoke, meats, and minerals. Superb purity, full body, good acidity, and moderate tannin suggest this fleshy, substantial St.-Emilion will be drinkable in 3-4 years, and last for 15 or more.

[Barrel tasting] Pleasant blackberry and licorice character with medium body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Nice mouthfeel, if a bit hollow. Almost 89andndash;91.
