Halcon Pinot Noir Oppenlander Vineyard 2016

Member Review by EMark:

Prettty translucent garnet color. Lots of upfront red berry fruit--raspberry, strawberry, red plum. You might guess there is a fair amount of acid, here, that gives the wine a lot of liveliness. An excellent sign. An enjoyable. albeit, not, in any way, challenging wine.

Somewhat disturbing taste of cola on the tip of the tongue, but, thankfully, that quickly fades. The flavors similar to stewed prune. Fairly light-bodied. Mid-length finish. An enjoyable but not particularly aspirational wine.

More red than purple in color. A lot of light passing through. Light nose of red fruit. Cherry/strawberry on the tip of the tongue, but, again, quite light. Something of a dusty character. Fairy stern acid detected around the edges of the tongue. A hint of a “nutty” thing going on mid- to back palate. Maybe it’s the youth, but, as much as anything, this one reminds me of the heaviest rosé you’ve ever tried.
